Rutherford County Housing Initiative

The Rutherford County Housing Initiative seeks to educate about the present and future needs and availability of housing and advocates for improvements in the availability of decent, affordable housing.
 
The Initiative functions as an umbrella organization affiliating with a variety of direct service-providing groups who work to reduce poverty housing in Rutherford County. Included are groups such as Habitat for Humanity and Rutherford Housing Partnership.
 
Currently, the Rutherford County Housing Initiative's major project is organizing a local IDA (Individual Development Accounts) Program. This is a matched savings program designed to help working families gain financial skills and knowledge, and accumulate funds to make a down payment on a home of their own.
