The following is a list of the responsibilities of the WDB:
Develops comprehensive strategy to meet community's workforce development needs defined by local stakeholders
Uses multiple funding sources (federal, state, local, private) to focus on entire investment in workforce development system, not programs
Established community outcome expectations for impact of workforce development efforts
Evaluates programs in light of broad community goals
Collaborate with the localeducation agencies and local community colleges
Charter JobLink Career Centers, monitor activities, and evaluate the performance of the career centers, programs, and activities
Develop linkages with regional and local economic development efforts and activities in the service area and promote the cooperation and coordination among public organizations, community organizations, education agencies and private businesses
Administers and provides oversight for the federal Workforce Investment Act, Dislocated Worker, Adult, and Youth Programs
Membership:Fifty-one percent of the Workforce Development Board’s membership positions are private-sector business representatives—primarily decision makers.The remainder of the membership is made up of various agency representatives, e.g. Employment Security Commission, Dept. of Social Services, education agencies, and community based organizations.
