IPDC’s planning staff provides planning and technical services to the local governments of the region. These services focus on Local Technical Assistance, Regional Planning & Collaboration and Information Services.
IPDC provides Local Technical Assistance to member governments in support of a variety of planning activities, such as land use, recreation and hazard mitigation planning, annexation studies and ordinance update and review, among other services.
IPDC promotes Regional Planning & Collaboration among its members, coordinating activities between various levels and units of government. IPDC acts as the administrative entity for the Isothermal Rural Planning Organization, the partnership between NCDOT and McDowell, Polk and Rutherford Counties, whose mission it is to provide its members greater input into the transportation planning process.
Information Services staff provide GIS services to IPDC and member governments. Staff also serves the Regional Data Center, providing demographic, economic and other information about the region.
